Fashion Emergency:
If you listen really carefullyyou can hear thousands of panic-stricken brides screaming in frustration from sea to shining sea as the Alfred Angelo bridal stores shut their doors last Thursday after filing for bankruptcy. Understandably, ladies who have spent a lifetime planning their perfect day are heartbroken because there's been no official statement about the fate of the gowns they searched high and low to find.
On the bright side, ladies are banding together to help --the "#alfredangelo" hashtag is trending on Twitter, fellow brides are donating their dresses to others in need and David's Bridal is offering deep discounts to customers who present a receipt from the defunct retailer. (Lee)Factoid: June is no longer peak wedding season in the US. Most weddings now take place in September and October.
Daenerys' Targaryen debuted a new regal look as she stepped onto the beach of her family's ancestral home Dragonstone on Sunday night's "Game of Thrones." Now you can get the Dragon Chain worn by EMILIA CLARKE on the 7th season premiere --it'll only cost you $3,650 dollars.
People Stylewatchsays the thick chain the Khaleesi wore across her chest is the "hero" piece of the second "Breaking Chains" collection of Thrones-inspired jewelry. It's designed by Thrones' costume designer MICHELE CLAPTON and jewelry brand Yunus & Eliza. The exact replica is a hand-carved "dragon spine," and at the "heart" sits three dragons' heads.
If the chain's price tag is a bit much for you, there are some other less expensive pieces in the collection. That includes a $500 dragon-head pendant, $420 dragon-chain bracelet and $160 link ring. The entire jewelry line is available at mey.london.com .(Bartha)Grace notes from Vinny Marino:
R. KELLY has been accused of some serious nastiness. Buzzfeed.com says the singer is allegedly keeping two women who want careers as singers serving as his sexual slaves at his homes in Chicago and Atlanta. The families of both women claim Kelly has been physically and verbally abusing them to obey his every command, and that they are being held as prisoners. Kelly may have as many as six women at those homes in what has been called a cult-like living situation with him in control. So far, no comment from the singer, but his lawyer said (quote), "We can only wonder why folks would persist in defaming a great artist who loves his fans, works 24/7, and takes care of all of the people in his life. He works hard to become the best person and artist he can be." (Marino)
