On, off and way-off-Broadway:
Today is"Mean Girls" Day. Oct 03 is when Aaron Samuels asked Cady Heron (played by LINDSAY LOHAN) what day it was in the movie "Mean Girls": "I've been talking to Aaron more and more. On October third, he asked me what day it was," Cady gushes. "It's October third!"
And, wouldn't you know it --tickets for the Broadway musical version of the movie "Mean Girls" go on sale today. The New York Daily News says the August Wilson Theater will have a street party in front of the building on 52nd Street. They'll be serving cheese fries, handing out t-shirts and you might even get to meet the show's creator, TINA FEY. A "Mean Girls" food truck will also be in Union Square later today. A New Jersey man got his missing wallet back a half-century after it was stolen.
78-year-old DENNIS HELMER of Westmont says his wallet was stolen nearly 50-years ago when his parents' house was burglarized. That wallet contained his 1957 Selective Service card and a photo of his prom date, along with a photos of several other girls he had dated. Helmer got a call recently from a man who found the wallet hidden in the ceiling of a home that was being remodeled. He says he was suspicious at first and thought the caller was a scammer. But, the guy actually brought the wallet back to him and, amazingly, everything was intact. Helmer says the wallet brings back a lot of great memories. (Still)Diseases and Dat Boid Flu:
A new survey says those darn millennials are sneezing the flu all over everybody. CBS says a new survey of 1,800 American adults released by CityMD found that adults ages 18 to 34 who have the flu or flu-like symptoms are much more likely to go out and about while they're sick --increasing the chances that they'll expose friends, neighbors and co-workers. About three-quarters of millennials admitted to going out sick, compared to 56 percent of older adults.
Of those who left the house, the most common place they went was a drug store, followed by a grocery store. Nearly 40 percent said they went to work sick. Smaller numbers went to a family or friend's house, a restaurant or deli, public transportation, and even the gym while they were ill. (Bartha)
