Sucking the life out of the wire services:
SOFIA VERGARA is celebrating National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the best way possible --with a mammogram! The "Modern Family" siren posted video and photos from her recent exam on Instagram last Friday and urged female followers that: "You have to do it!!" Sofia is a fabulous 45-years-old --the exact age that women should start getting yearly mammograms.(Lee)
On, off and way-off-Broadway:
BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN is after a Tony Award. The New York Times says that since his "Springsteen on Broadway" show is the same exact material every night, he could get nominated this year. But, in order for that to happen, 850 Tony voters, and their plus-ones, have to be able to see the show, for free. That may be tough since the run is totally sold out. The rules say that Tony voters have to get in no later than 16-weeks after a show opens. The show is in previews now, with opening night set for October 12th. The 16-week deadline is right around when "Springsteen on Broadway" is scheduled to close on February 3rd. This could get tricky.
FYI: Bruce may be after EGOT status. He already has an Oscar for his "Street of Philadelphia" song from the movie, "Philadelphia," along with a mantel full of Grammys. Getting a Tony would mean all he would need is an Emmy to be in the EGOT club. (Marino)Brain dead:
Hundreds of zombies took to the streets in New Jersey over the weekend.
Saturday marked the 10th Annual Asbury Park Zombie Walk. People showed up dressed as various scary --and not so scary --undead creatures. Costumes included dead Disney princesses, zombie doctors and nurses, and an undead DONALD TRUMP. Event organizers promote the event as one of the largest zombie gatherings of the undead on Earth. Security at the walk was beefed up this year following the mass shooting in Las Vegas. Prop firearms were also forbidden. (Still)
