Stupid people, stupid places:
Please talk to your kids about these stupid YouTube challenges.
A kid in Salisbury, North Carolina, who's seven, decided to try and be cool and try the "Fire Challenge." Basically the kid sets themselves on fire and someone records it. The kid's mom, PORSHIA WALKER, said her son saw videos online of people trying it or trying to make fireballs with aerosol cans and a lighter. "Three seconds, you know, it's just changed his life," she said.
So their next idea was to spray more on something, whichhappened to beRONDARIUS' shirt. He lit it and in one light --it went up in flames. He's a pretty boy. He put chemicals all in his hair, and make sure his face is shiny, so he had Vaseline on it," said Walker, "So I guess when he pulled his shirt off, it lit his face on fire. All this happened while the bus was outside ...in a flash." Rondarius is at the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center with second and third degree burns. (Myers)The Reel Deal:
QUENTIN TARANTINO's new film about CHARLES MANSON will be out in mid-2019, according to Sony Pictures.
The date selected --Aug. 9, 2019-- will be the 50th anniversary of the murders of SHARON TATE and her friends by the followers of Manson, who died in jail on Nov 17. There's no word on any stars to play members of the Manson Family or Charles, yet, but the Hollywood Reportersays overtures have been made to such A-listers including BRAD PITT, LEONARDO DiCAPRIO and MARGOT ROBBIE.Trendspotting:
Nike just launched an ad campaign for its first sports hijab. Fashionista.com says 22-year-old competitive figure skater ZAHRA LARI from the United Arab Emirates --who will compete in the upcoming Winter Olympics-- stars in the campaign. The sportswear company worked with her to develop and test the product to ensure its breathability, lightness and steadiness on the ice. (Bartha)
Grace notes from Vinny Marino:
U2 did two songs from their new album, "Songs Of Experience" on NBC's "Saturday Night Live": "American Soul" and "Get Out Of Your Own Way." But, before that, the band did a free surprise concertFriday afternoon on the streets of New York City. U2 set up just below the High Line on 26th Street for a set of hits. Fans were notified 30-minutes before the show on Facebook. U2 did a similar thing last month in London. (Marino)
