Filling a need:
Residents of Phoenix, Arizona, are getting more than a nice tan and a Christmas cactus this holiday season --the fine folks at Pizza Hut are spiffing them with booze delivery! Yep, your pizza delivery guy can bring Bud Light, Budweiser, Shock Top or Kilt Lifter brews along with your pie and the company will add vino to the list early next year. No word if the company will expand the program nationwide, but they're "excited to offer the convenience of beer and wine delivered to a customer's home" and point out that the clients must show ID when the driver arrives.
Fortunemagazine reports Pizza Hut has 6,300 stores in the U.S. and 1,700 of them already have liquor licenses.(Lee)Bad luck:
Pimple-popping. We all do it, but maybe you should be cautious about who you do it with next time.
A man, who's 23, had a zit coming in below his lip so he grabbed the closest sharp thing he had to pop it, a woodworking tool. He ended up in the ER, telling the doctor exactly what he had done.
Turns out he had infected his lower lip with "a large heme-crusted, verrucous, erythematous plaque with a rolled indurated border on the lower vermillion and cutaneous lips." Yeah, basically, he gave himself something with the spores of a fungus that usually only occurs in morgue workers or dog animals bitten by an infected animal.
He's being treated with an antifungal medication that will take up to a year to work. See the grossness here. (Myers)The movie biz:
Would you go to the movies once a month for $8.99?
That's the new idea from Cinemark, which is now offering a monthly subscription program, called the Movie Club. The company unveiled the new plan yesterday, and says club members will be able to roll over unused tickets every month and buy additional ones for friends at the lower price. In addition, you'll also get 20-percent off at the concession stand as well.Grace notes from Vinny Marino:
How about a round of miniature golf with BONO and THE EDGE? You can make that happen with a winning bid for the third annual SHOPATHON benefitting Bono's AIDS charity, RED. Go to Omaze.com/U2 for all the details. Bono and The Edge released a very silly video yesterday to get you to participate. (Marino)
