Off the beaten path:
If you missed it, somebody drove a truck onto the baseball diamond in Dyersville, Iowa, which was used in the KEVIN COSTNER movie, "Field of Dreams." That was on Tuesday --and yesterday, a GoFundMe campaign was launched to help raise $15-thousand dollars for repairs to the diamond. It took exactly one day --by last night, the campaign had already raised $16,150 of its $15,000 goal. In other words, if you advertise it, they will donate.
Bad luck:
A New Jersey couple got married in a bathroom.
BRIAN and MARIA SCHULZ were ready to say "I do" in the judge's chambers the Monmouth County Courthouse, but, one of their relatives had a massive asthma attack. She was rushed to the ladies room and given oxygen by deputies. An EMT was also called to the scene. The couple were told if they postponed their wedding, they'd have to wait a month-and-a-half. So, instead, they moved the entire wedding party into the bathroom and tied the knot on the spot. Video of the restroom nuptials has been posted online. (Still)Grace notes from Vinny Marino:
The 60th Annual Grammy Awards will be handed out Sunday night, hosted by JAMES CORDEN. JAY-Z scored the mostnominations with eight, including Album of the Year for "4:44." KENDRICK LAMAR got seven while BRUNO MARS has six. Jay-Z has a total of 21 career Grammy wins. The statues will be handed out at New York's Madison Square Garden. CBS airs the big event, live.
Look for performances from LADY GAGA, BRUNO MARS, KENDRICK LAMAR, LUIS FONSI & DADDY YANKEE, DJ KHALED with RIHANNA and many others. But, you won't get to see Jay-Z perform. He decided not to. Gaga is set to do a new piano version of her song "Joanne," and that will mark the end of the "Joanne" era for Gaga. There will also be a tribute to fans who lost their lives at music festivals in the last year, including the shootings in Las Vegas at a country music event.Fashion Emergency:
Time's Up supporters will move beyond black dresses for the Grammy Awards this weekend. E! News reports you can look for the music industry's finest to wear white roses to protest sexual harassment and inequality on Sunday night. A group called Voices in Entertainment asked their "brothers and sisters in music" to add the flower to their ensemble, which stands for hope, peace, sympathy and resistance. The color also symbolizes the original suffragettes, who wore white when they protested to get women the right to vote. The Hollywood Reportersays KELLY CLARKSON, CYNDI LAUPER and HALSEY are among the high profile musicians expected to take part. (Lee/Bartha)
