The President at play:
PRESIDENT TRUMP indicated yesterday that he supports a bipartisan gun-background-check bill in response to last week's mass shooting at a Florida high school. In a statement, White House press secretary SARAH HUCKABEE SANDERS said, "The president is supportive of efforts to improve the federal background check system."
But the bill in question might not satisfy gun control advocates, as it's narrowly focused on background checks. The measure would require states and federal agencies to produce plans to report offenses that would bar people from passing a check needed to purchase a firearm.
The bill's chief co-sponsors are CT Democratic Sen. CHRIS MURPHY and TX GOP Sen. JOHN CORNYN. (Pacelli)Today's police blotter:
Cops in Australia are looking for some thieves with a creepy obsession.
South Australia Police are reviewing security video showing three suspects stealing a skeleton from a local business. Officials posted the clip online with the caption: "Do you have a skeleton in your closet?"
Cops say they have a bone to pick with the suspects (Ha!). They're asking anyone who recognizes the thieves to give police a call. (Still)Bottom feeding:
Warning: note sexual content.
Another day, another KARDASHIAN family sex tape. This time, the honors go to ROB's baby mama, BLAC CHYNA, who was horrified to discover someone posted a video of her performing a very intimate act on Twitter yesterday morning. Her attorney LISA BLOOM refused to officially comment about the footage to TMZ, but tweeted that it's "crime, a civil wrong and a form of domestic abuse."
For the record, Rob is not her co-star in the one-minute, 23-second video. (Lee)Everyday heroes:
A police officer in England is a tried and true hero.
MOHAMMED NADEEM saw a man in Greater Manchester fall into the River Irwell. Nadeem can't swim, but he wasn't about to the let the man drown. He dove down eight feet into the freezing river to save the man and spent about 25 minutes in the water before being pulled out.
"I can't swim. I'm not a good swimmer at all and having all the extra body gear was very hard but somehow I got to him... and we got to the side and waited for help. It was very dangerous but I just had to go in... seeing this man drowning I just couldn't wait," he said.
Nadeem's coworkers are now jokingly calling him "The Hoff." The whole thing was caught on his body cam. See the video here. (Myers)
