Money Talks:
Congrats to JEFF BEZOS, who's now taken over the top-spot on Forbesmagazine's billionaire's list --he's now the richest businessman in the world.
Jeff's net worth is now $112 billion, which pushed him past Microsoft co-founder BILL GATES and Berkshire Hathaway's CEO, WARREN BUFFETT.
In case you're wondering how you stack up, Credit Suisse's Global Wealth Report estimates the average American has $55,876. Compare that to China, where the median is $6,689.
And Forbessays PRESIDENT TRUMP's finances also took a big hit last year, down an estimated $400 million to $3.1 billion. The drop is apparently due to the drop in the value of properties like Trump Tower and other New York properties, although the president's golf properties are up more than five-percent across the board. The drop in revenue also caused the Prez to fall 222 places on the Forbes list --from 544th richest last year to 766th this year. The Top-10:
10. Larry Ellison, software; $58.5 Billion
8. (tie) Charles and David Koch, Koch Industries; $60 Billion
7. Carlos Slim Helu, telecom (Mexico), $67.1 Billion
6. Amancio Ortega, Zara (Spain), $70 Billion
5. Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook; $71 Billion
4. Bernard Arnault, LVMH (France); $72 Billion
3. Warren Buffett, Berkshire Hathaway, $84 Billion
2. Bill Gates, Microsoft; $90 Billion
1. Jeff Bezos, Amazon; $112 BillionOn, off and way-off-Broadway:
"Waitress" composer and current star SARA BAREILLES will get the Hal David Starlight Award at the Songwriters Hall of Fame Class of 2018 induction ceremony. The Hall said (quote), "From her self-described 'piano-based pop soul' sound to her tremendous success with her long-running Broadway show Waitress, Sara has been a pioneer, forging new ground as a singer-songwriter with every step in her career." Sara gets her award on June 14th in New York City. Before that, Sara plays Mary Magdalene in NBC's live concert production of "Jesus Christ Superstar" on April 1st. (Marino)
The Reel Deal:
The movie "Black Panther" is now the ninth-highest grossing movie ever in North America. In just 18 days, it's passed $506.4 million and moved past "Beauty and the Beast." If it picks up another $26 million at the box office it'll pass "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" to take over the eighth slot on the list.
However, it may be a bit more difficult for it to pack in viewers this weekend, since Disney's "A Wrinkle in Time" is opening and projected to pull down between $30-35 million. And there are three other films opening as well, "Gringo," "Hurricane Heist" and "The Strangers: Prey at Night."Jedi mind tricks:
You might want to rethink giving your toddler your iPhone.
A boy in Shanghai, China, who's two, reportedly shut his mother's phone down after repeatedly putting in the wrong passcode. While it's common knowledge that the iPhone freezes up for a period of time after entering the wrong password just a few times, did you know that period of time keeps getting longer and longer the more you try?
The toddler tried so many times to unlock his mom's phone that it was locked for 25 million minutes, or 48 years. A tech said no worries, you don't have to wait that long. But you do have to wipe the data on the phone and do a factory reset on it to get it to work again. (Myers)
