Health and Medical Briefs:
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved the first contact lenses that can act like sunglasses. WebMD.com says a special additive automatically darkens the lenses when exposed to bright light, while they become clear again in normal or dark lighting conditions. It's the same technology used in photo-chromatic transition lens glasses.
The Acuvue Oasys Contact Lenses with Transitions Light Intelligent Technology are soft contact lenses for daily use for a maximum of 14 days by people who are nearsighted or farsighted and have no eye disease. They can also be used by people with certain degrees of astigmatism, an abnormal curvature of the eye. (Bartha)Taking everything much too seriously:
A Disney-themed house is up for sale in Florida.
The Windermere house is listed on Zillow for $888-thousand-dollars. Each room in the home is filled to the brim with Disney décor. And, there's a special MICKEY MOUSE themed kitchen. The proud new owner of this Disney paradise will also get free nightly views of the fireworks display at nearby Walt Disney World. The home became famous locally for it's over-the-top annual Disney Christmas lights display. (Still)Grace notes from Vinny Marino:
JASON ALDEAN has not played Las Vegas since the massacre at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in October of 2017 that saw 58 people killed and hundreds wounded. Jason was on stage during that tragedy and this Sunday, he'll perform at the Academy of Country Music Awards held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Vegas. Jason said (quote), "I have one really horrible memory from Las Vegas, but I have a thousand great ones." He's up for Entertainer of the Year against GARTH BROOKS, LUKE BRYAN, CHRIS STAPLETON and KEITH URBAN. CARRIE UNDERWOOD will do her first live performance since a nasty fall required more than 50 stitches in her face. CBS airs the awards live on Sunday night. (Marino)
