The President at play:
In a prime "You Can't Make This Up" moment, PRESIDENT TRUMP met with reality TV star KIM KARDASHIAN at the White House yesterday. He tweeted, "Great meeting with @KimKardashian today, talked about prison reform and sentencing."
Along with discussing prison reform, Kardashian was also expected to push for a pardon for 65-year-old ALICE MARIE JOHNSON, who's serving a life sentence in prison for a nonviolent drug offense, spending more than 20 years in federal jail so far.
Kardashian reportedly heard about Johnson's case recently and has since advocated for her release. (Pacelli)PRESIDENT TRUMP has finally weighed-in on this week's cancellation of ROSEANNE BARR's ABC sitcom after a racist tweet aimed at former OBAMA White House adviser VALERIE JARRET. The president tweeted, "Bob Iger of ABC called Valerie Jarrett to let her know that 'ABC does not tolerate comments like those' made by Roseanne Barr. Gee, he never called President Donald J. Trump to apologize for the HORRIBLE statements made and said about me on ABC. Maybe I just didn't get the call?"
Later yesterday, White House press secretary SARAH HUCKABEE SANDERS said "nobody is defending (Barr's) comments." But she said that the president is frustrated by a "double standard" in the media. (Pacelli)The Reel Deal:
As you know, boxer JACK JOHNSON was just recently pardoned by President DONALD TRUMP last week.
Johnson was the first African-American heavyweight champ and his battles against white opponents gave rise to "The Great White Hope" play and movie. But he was convicted in 1913 of violating the Mann Act in 1910 for transporting a woman across state lines for "immoral purposes."
President Trump was made aware of the conviction by SYLVESTER STALLONE and signed an order pardoning Johnson, who died in 1946.
Now, Varietysays Stallone is putting together a movie about Johnson as well as a possible TV project, too. -
