The Stock Market:
Your local drug stores --Walgreens, CVSand Rite-Aid-- lost around $11 billion in value after Amazon picked up an online pharmacy, PillPack, which probably means Amazon is going to be delivering drug prescriptions.
PillPack is licensed to ship prescriptions in 49 states and reports say the company pulled in more than $100 million in revenue last year.
Americans order more than four billion prescriptions every year, with an estimated $300-billion dollars spent on prescription drugs. So it's likely a bad deal for drugstores, which depend on customers going through the store and buying other things as they wait for their prescriptions to be filled.Trendspotting:
Thanks to Sephora, ingestible collagen is about to become A Thing. Fashionista.com says over in Asia, collagen supplements have been popular for years. Collagen is a protein found all throughout the body. It's believed that taking supplements of collagen can help make skin look younger and more supple. But you don't see much of it here... Until now. Beginning this weekend, Sephora is adding several collagen products from brands like Crushed Tonic, Hum Nutrition and Vital Proteins in a move to ramp up its wellness offerings. (Bartha)
Pilot news:
"Halo" is one of the biggest Xbox games ever, and it shouldn't surprise anyone that there's a TV series coming which is based on the game.
Showtime says they're putting together the series and have hired "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" director RUPERT WYATT to direct several episodes and also executive produce. The first season is expected to start filming early next year, which could mean it'll start next fall.Grace notes from Vinny Marino:
DRAKE's new album is out today. "Scorpion" is a 2-disc set with 25 new tracks. One of them features MICHAEL JACKSON. "Don't Matter To Me" is actually Drake rapping over a previously unreleased song by the late King of Pop. JAY-Z is also on the album, along with STATIC MAJOR and TY DOLLA $IGN. (Marino)
