Congratulations to the folks in North Jakarta, Indonesia, which currently holds the title of the fastest-sinking city in the world. With the Java Sea up against it, and 13 rivers running through it, it's no wonder that experts believe the city will be almost entirely underwater in around 30 years --by 2050.
The rest of Jakarta is also sinking, but at a slower rate. Scientists say the rising waters are caused by several factors, including the melting of the polar ice caps and thermal expansion of the water, thanks to the extra heat we've been getting as well.Looks like all the experts were wrong about "The Meg," which captured the box office title this past weekend with $44.5 million in ticket sales. "Mission: Impossible - Fallout," picked up $20 million for second place; SPIKE LEE's "BlacKkKlansman" debuted in fifth place with $10.8 million, although it was only in around 15-hundred theatres, much less than "The Meg," which was out in around 4-thousand theatres.
JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE fan? Look for the multi-talented singer to release his first book, called "Hindsight & All the Things I Can't See in Front of Me," in October. It's just me, but I think it probably woulda sold more copies had the plot been based around something like "Can't Stop This Feeling."
HarperCollins sez the book will discuss "many aspects of his childhood, including his very early love of music and the inspiration behind many of his hit songs and albums," as well as Timberlake's songwriting process and his personal relationships with his son and family.Wanna live like famous chef ANTHONY BOURDAIN? Turns out his 2 bedroom, 2 bath New York City condo is available for rent... overlooking Central Park, right there at the corner of Central Park on Columbus Circle. And it'll only cost you (cough, cough) $14,200 per month.
