In Philadelphia, a jury ruled that a boy who took Risperdal --a drug prescribed by a doctor for his autism spectrum disorder-- and then grew breasts, would receive $8 billion in punitive damages from Johnson & Johnson --the company which developed the drug.
MarketWatch says this is the largest of the more than 13-thousand settlements to date over the drug, which apparently causes the enlargement of breast tissue in boys, a condition called gynecomastia.
The Food and Drug Administration had approved Risperdal in late 1993 for treating schizophrenia and episodes of bipolar mania in adults. NICHOLAS MURRAY, who's now 26, began taking the drug in 2003, when he was 10.
Johnson and Johnson says they believe the award will be overturned on appeal.Up for grabs: one of KURT COBAIN's custom left-handed Fender guitars and an olive green cardigan sweater that he wore during NIRVANA's MTV "Unplugged" performance. Julien's Auctions is doing a two-day auction Oct 25-26 with two sessions each day (10 am and 1 pm Eastern time) with other items as well, including
--MICHAEL JACKSON's single right-hand leather glove
--a BLACK SABBATH custom-made drum kit
--a floral bra worn by MADONNA on her 1993 The Girlie Show World Tour
--a 1993 black Gretsch guitar owned and played by CHRIS CORNELL with the band SOUNDGARDEN
--a snare drum played by KEITH MOON with THE WHO
--a Fender guitar from ELVIS PRESLEY (estimated to be worth up to $80,000)

Apparently it was so successful that the band has announced a 2020 "Hotel California" tour which will kick off in Atlanta on Feb 07 and run thru April 17 and 18 in Los Angeles. Tickets for the tour go on sale Oct 18.
DIANA ROSS is the first act to be announced for the 2020 Glastonbury Festival in late June of this year. She's currently celebrating her 75th birthday with a US tour, and it will be her first show in the UK since 2008. Tickets for the 50th anniversary of the festival sold out in just 34 minutes last weekend. No word yet on other acts for the festival, although the BBC reports rumors have included PAUL McCARTNEY, FLEETWOOD MAC and TAYLOR SWIFT.
