Arnold Schwarzenegger's daughter, Katherine, has put out a plea on her Twitter page asking farmer's markets to close in California: "The farmers markets in Brentwood still being open seems like a huge issue when it comes to social gatherings," she said. LA Mayor Eric Garcetti apparently took it to heart, and announced Monday that farmers markets will be temporarily closed, and would only be allowed to reopen if they submit a plan to show how crowds can be controlled.
Does Russian President Vladimir Putin have the coronavirus? We don't know yet, but a doctor who gave Putin a tour of a hospital says he's gotten the sickness and feeling he might have passed it along. No word from the Kremlin about whether Vlad has gotten a test.
The director of the CDC now says EVERYBODY ought to wear a mask. Dr. Robert Redfield tells the New York Times that there's too many people who are infected but show no symptoms, and that the coronavirus is probably three times as infectious as the flu. Since infected people may not show any signs they've gotten the infection for around 48 hours or so, it makes sense to wear masks all the time.
One thing that seems to be bothering people are President Trump's daily briefings about the coronavirus and the government's attempts to stop it. In fact, a new online petition at Moveon.org signed by more than 130-thousand people say Trump is using each briefing as a "live campaign rally," and asks broadcasters to monitor the briefings instead "and have your anchors and correspondents quickly share appropriately edited valuable accurate parts" --in other words, the more concise information coming "from medical experts." Find the petition HERE.
One possibly good thing about the whole worldwide coronavirus epidemic is that people aren't paying as much for gas. Obviously, that's because everybody is increasingly told to "shelter at home" and not drive places. The Triple-A also reports the ongoing oil price war between Russia and Saudi Arabia has also factored into the price drop, with a gallon of gas going for $1.99 or less at roughly 70-percent of US gas stations. And, AAA says it believes gas prices will fall to $1.75 or less in April. -
