Deadline reports CHRISTOPHER MELONI from "Law & Order: SVU" will be bringing his character back for a new series from producer DICK WOLF, who's been the guy behind a bunch of crime series, including all the "Law & Order" series as well as the "Chicago" series --PD, Med, Fire and Justice and the relatively new FBI series. No name for the new series, yet, although it could be a "Law & Order" spinoff.
More cancellations because of the coronavirus spread:
- Organizers have cancelled the Wimbledon tennis tournament for the first time since World War II.
- The Democratic Party is rethinking its plans to hold their national convention scheduled for July in Milwaukee. It's a big moneymaker for the city --the 2016 Democratic convention generated $231 million for Philadelphia. One plan is to only have the delegates attend --and nobody else. The new idea would be to have just 4,750 people without other party officials, corporate sponsors and journalists.
- Meanwhile, the Republicans, are said to be moving ahead with plans to hold a four-day convention to re-nominate President Trump in Charlotte from August 24-27.
Whadda Surprise: Fox News quotes three US intelligence agents as saying China lied about the coronavirus --and that there were many, many more deaths in that country than officials reported. Two of the three called the numbers flat-out fake.
CNN reports testing in Iceland has shown that 50% of those people who tested positive for the coronavirus said they were had no symptoms, confirming multiple studies that show that asymptomatic, or mildly symptomatic, people have played an important role in spreading the virus.
Finally, some good news --CBS reports the Hobby Lobby chain will be reopening stores in parts of the U.S. with stay-at-home orders in place, because it is an "essential" business because it sells educational and make-your-own mask supplies, along with products for at-home small businesses. The arts-and-crafts chain's dozen stores in the Dallas area have been reopened, as well as stores in Ohio, Wisconsin and Colorado.
The company has nearly 900 stores nationwide
