Friday is National Donut Day, and to extend the festivities, Dunkin’ is offering a free half-dozen donuts through Grubhub on orders of $10 or more this Saturday and Sunday: June 6 and 7.
There are now 42.6 million workers on unemployment --another 1.9 million last week alone. And that's just in the last 11 weeks. California has the highest number of new claims, with 230,461 filing last week. Florida is second with 206,494 new claims.
A new study published Wednesday by the New England Journal of Medicine shows that hydroxychloroquine was no better than placebo pills at preventing illness from the coronavirus. CBS News reports that about 40-percent of the patients taking it had side effects, mostly mild stomach problems.
Meanwhile, the World Health Organization says it will be doing an international trial using hydroxychloroquine to treating COVID-19 after the organization had previously suspended their trial over safety concerns.
Good news for Las Vegas casinos, some of which reopened Thursday. The casinos will now have plexiglass shields, hand-washing stations, and out-of-service slot machines because of the risk of coronavirus. Casino employees will be required to wear masks, while guests will be encouraged to do so. And in some parts of the casino, like at roulette tables, guests will also be required to wear masks.
