There have been many Confederate monuments vandalized, and over the weekend a NASCAR driver named BUBBA WALLACE says Confederate flags should be removed from NASCAR races -- in fact, removed all together. And Richard Petty Motorsports --whom Wallace drives for-- said that Wallace would be driving a car with a "Black Lives Matter" paint scheme in the race to promote racial equality in last night's race at Martinsville Speedway in Virginia.
Meanwhile, two Christopher Columbus statues in different cities have been vandalized as well because many consider him to have been racist due to his history of colonization, enslavement and violence toward Native Americans. In Richmond, VA, the Columbus statue in Byrd Park was spray-painted, set on fire and finally torn down and tossed into a lake following a peaceful demonstration in support of indigenous peoples Tuesday night. In Boston, the head of a Christopher Columbus statue in the city's North End was lopped off Tuesday night. As far back as 2015, the statue was also splattered with red paint and spray-painted with the words "Black Lives Matter."
And, while we're on the subject, HBO Max has removed the film "Gone with the Wind" after the "Black Lives Matter" mass protests against racism and police brutality. The film received 10 Oscars and HATTIE McDANIEL became the first black actress to be nominated for, and win, an Academy Award for her role as domestic servant Mammy. But HBO Max said the 1939 film although being "a product of its time," showed "ethnic and racial prejudices" that "were wrong then and are wrong today."
Stupidity rules: The FBI and Boston cops are looking for two men who posed for a picture in front of a burned-out police vehicle. They reportedly vandalized the cruiser and broke the windows before setting it on fire according to the FBI. But they apparently didn't realize that posting the photo could be evidence.
Think cases of coronavirus will still be going down as 21 states reopen for business? Not really. And at least 15 cases have been linked to those ongoing "Black Lives Matter" protests --and not just participants-- five National Guard members and one police officer in Nebraska.
The good news is that scientists have reportedly been working on vaccines against the coronavirus, with some reports indicating as many as 125 different trials going on.
