Mattel Films and Universal Pictures are putting together a new, live-action movie based on the hit ’90s PBS TV series “Wishbone,” about a Jack Russell Terrier. No word on the casting of the co-stars --or the dog-- yet.
If you watched the series, “The Golden Girls,” you'll remember their four-bedroom house and it's now up for sale. The series was based on Miami, but the actual house used for filming is in Los Angeles’ Brentwood neighborhood, and will run you $2.999 million according to the Wall Street Journal. Turns out the original owners have passed away and their son is selling the place.
There's a reboot of the 1985 CHEVY CHASE movie, “Fletch,” in the works, with JON HAMM reportedly taking over the role as the quick-witted investigative reporter character. Variety reports the new film will be based on the second book in Gregory McDonald's series, called “Confess Fletch.”
While we're on movie news, the Hollywood Reporter says Apple has picked up the JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE-starring drama, “Palmer,” about a college football star who --after getting out of prison-- comes back to his hometown, where he finds part of his recovery will be helping out a unique young boy who has been abandoned by his wayward mother.
If you're a regular at Starbucks, they've just included new Non-Dairy Creamers for their coffee. The new blends --which are made from almond milk and oat milk-- will be in their Caramel-flavored and Hazelnut flavored creamer lines starting next month.
Gotta love the guy from the Detroit suburbs, who stopped at a gas station because he needed some change to put air in the tires of his wife's truck. When he got inside, he asked for a $10 Lucky 7's lottery ticket as well as the change. The clerk handed him a $20 ticket by mistake. The guy said "He offered to exchange it for me, but something told me to keep it. I am sure glad I did!" That's because the scratch-off ticket turned out to be worth $2 million. He took the $1.3 million payout instead of an annuity for the full amount and told the press he plans to use the money to buy a new house and will save the rest.
This time of year, you'd normally expect results of the Running of the Bulls and the Festival of Sanfermin, in Pamplona, Spain. It's been going on since (at least) the 15th Century, and it got a big push when author ERNEST HEMINGWAY included the Festival in his book, "The Sun Also Rises," which is about bullfighting in general. Unfortunately, the City Council of Pamplona has officially announced the festival will not be run because of the risk of Covid-19.
The Tour de France --another big summer event-- has not been cancelled, but has been moved from this month, when it's normally run, to August 29th to September 20th. It's scheduled to follow the same route, with no changes, from Nice to Paris.
