Another day, another lawsuit by a musician who's had one of his songs used by PRESIDENT TRUMP. This time it's NEIL YOUNG who's suing because the Trump campaign has used "Rockin' in the Free World" and "Devil's Sidewalk" at various rallies and other events. Neil says he's complained about the use during the past five years, citing Trump's "un-American campaign of ignorance and hate." Neil joins the ROLLING STONES, AEROSMITH, ELTON JOHN and others who've complained about Trump's use of their music at various rallies and campaign events.
The folks at COMEDY CENTRAL have picked up a revival of the “Ren & Stimpy” TV series, first done in the 1990s.
Movie news: Sony has reportedly picked up the WHITNEY HOUSTON film biography, called “I Wanna Dance With Somebody,” and will release it in theatres around Thanksgiving in the year 2022. The film is being produced by CLIVE DAVIS with the authorization of Whitney's estate.
More movies... but on TV: Variety reports NBC's "Peacock" TV network will be streaming all eight "Harry Potter" movies for free starting August 25th and continuing into next year.
Ratings: That special on the late civil rights pioneer and US Rep JOHN LEWIS on CBS Tuesday night picked up just under 3 million total viewers. “John Lewis: Celebrating a Hero,” was co-hosted by OPRAH WINFREY, TYLER PERRY, GAYLE KING and BRAD PITT. Lewis served in the US House of Representatives for Georgia's 5th congressional district from 1987 until his death in 2020 from pancreatic cancer.
