The nation's largest theater chain, AMC Theaters, are pushing ahead with their plans to become the first movie chain to open across the country. A spokesman said yesterday that around 100 of its theatres will be open a week from today (August 20th) and by September 3rd, around two-thirds of its theatres in the US. The company also says they'll be practicing social distancing by using limited seating, as well as a mandatory mask policy, and extra cleaning and disinfecting.
You'll be able to see the musical based on the life story of Princess Diana, called "Diana," on Netflix next year before it makes its official Broadway debut. The problem, of course, is that Broadway theatres remain closed during the pandemic and it's pushed back the opening to late May of next year. But it's already being filmed with the original Broadway cast, so you'll actually be able to see it on TV before it hits Broadway.
SETH MacFARLANE, probably best known for creating the comedies “Family Guy” and “American Dad,” is now working on a serious project --a limited series based on author HERMAN WOUK’s novels, “The Winds of War” and “War and Remembrance.” The series reportedly will be called “The Winds of War” and is being produced by NBCUniversal.
Finally, sorry to hear that singer TRINI LOPEZ passed away Tuesday from complications from Covid-19. He was 83. Trini began playing in bands at 15 and in 1963, his first album rolled out with its big hit, "If I Had a Hammer." Other hits included “Lemon Tree,” “I’m Comin’ Home, Cindy,” “Sally Was a Good Old Girl,” and “Gonna Get Along Without Ya’ Now.” Trini also was in the film, “The Dirty Dozen,” as well.
