Guess again: although San Francisco Mayor LONDON BREED has said movie theaters can reopen as long as they forego opening their concession stands, the theater owners say they're gonna stay closed because without concessions --reopening is “economically impossible.” Bottom line --if you thought theatres were just about movies, you were wrong --they can't make a profit without selling popcorn and other stuff.
Latest college stupidity: A party for students who test positive for COVID! Yep, students at Manchester University has become a Covid-19 hotspot, and now the UK's Metro newspaper reports students have been holding ‘Covid Positive’ parties. There were nearly three thousand new cases in Manchester in the week up to October 1, and more than half (55%) were in the 17-21 age group. The University claims they've asked the students who tested positive to now self-isolate. Sure.
James Bond alert: The folks at Aston Martin have released shots of their new V12 Speedster --worth ONLY $950-thousand dollars. The Robb Report says the 5.2-liter, twin-turbocharged 12-cylinder engine has 700 hp and will get to a speed of 60 miles an hour in just 3.5 seconds --although the latest Ferrari Monza takes only 3 seconds. Top speed for either --around 185 mph.
Lots of talk about the upcoming Apple iPhone 12 --and specifically whether it'll have Touch ID like previous models, or the new Face ID which identifies users by their face. The reason? C|net reports people are asking because if it doesn't have touch ID, they can't unlock it while they're wearing their mask. Now people are asking for both face-unlocking technology as well as touch ID.
