Mousing around: The Disney Cruise Line is getting a new ship --its biggest ever. The Disney Wish will set sail on its maiden voyage in the summer of 2022. The folks at Disney had wanted it to go in early 2022, but everything was reportedly delayed because of pandemic-related problems at the shipyard in Germany. No word on where it will be based yet, or where its destinations will be. The ship has 1,250 staterooms, although that may change, too, since the CDC has asked cruise lines to lower their capacity and add new health and safety precautions.
Problems for Barnes & Noble, which apparently had a security breach on October 12 that may have exposed email addresses and other account information. It also affected Nook apps and devices as well, meaning Nook users were unable to view their collections, load past purchases, or buy new books.
PATRISSE CULLORS --the co-founder of Black Lives Matter --has just signed a deal with the Warner Brothers TV Group to develop and produce original programming to amplify both the work of Black Lives Matter and create opportunities for prominent Black storytelling on all of the Warner Brothers' different platforms, including streaming services, cable, and the five broadcast networks.
If you watched either of the two town hall meetings last night on NBC or ABC, you might have paid a little attention to the commercials that ran during the show(s). Variety reports that both ABC and NBC were charging an average price of $198,000 for a 30-second commercial next to the town hall events.
Good news for MICHAEL C. HALL fans --Showtime has picked up a 10-episode limited series revival of his series, "Dexter," which has tentatively been scheduled to start next fall.
Looking for the perfect Christmas gift for that special youngster? How about Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer, which was used in the animated 1964 TV special? Bring your wallet. Rudy, who's actually 6-inches tall, and the 11-inch tall Santa they used in the special, are going up for auction together at Profiles in History beginning November 13th. The auction house estimated that the classic figures are expected to fetch between $150-250,000.
Coronavirus update #1: Don't expect to be vacationing in Canada anytime soon. Canadian Prime Minister JUSTIN TRUDEAU said yesterday his border with the US will stay closed to non-essential travel until America can get the coronavirus under control. The border was scheduled to re-open next Thursday, October 22nd, but the date will probably be extended.
Coronavirus update #2: Sorry to hear that Grammy winner CHRISTOPHER CROSS got COVID-19, and he told "CBS Sunday Morning" it nearly killed him, leaving him paralyzed and in intensive care for 10 days. The whole interview will run this Sunday (October 18) on "CBS Sunday Morning."
Fast food #1: Taco Bell is bringing back their “Steal A Base, Steal A Taco” promotion for this year's World Series. Beginning October 20, you can get a free Doritos Locos Taco after the first base is stolen in the World Series via a code on the Taco Bell app. Taco Bell is also offering free tacos in-restaurant at participating locations nationwide on October 28, 2020 --if a base is stolen.
Fast food #2: the folks at Jack in the Box are testing a brand-new plant-based Unchicken Sandwich at test locations in Reno, NV, and Monterey, CA. And to mark the debut, Jack in the Box will also be giving away special "Chicken Scented" Face Masks starting October 23 at the website jackinthebox.com/chickenfacemask, while supplies last.
