Run for your lives!!! Not really --although scientist NEIL deGRASSE TYSON says an asteroid with a diameter the size of a refrigerator could hit Earth the day before the Presidential election... however, NASA scientists say even though it's traveling at a speed of 25,000 miles per hour, it's small enough so that even if it did make it to the Earth's atmosphere, it'd likely disintegrate because it's so small. Thanks, folks.
How about a deep dive... and we're talking really deep. The folks that own the salvage rights to the Titanic --which sank in 1912-- have gotten turned down in their quests to dive down and recover some relics from the wreck because there might still be human remains down there. The company, called RMS Titanic Inc., wants to bring back and show off the ship’s Marconi wireless telegraph transmitter, which was able to broadcast the ship's SOS calls and helped save about 700 people in lifeboats. But lawyers for the U.S. government claim some remains of passengers could still be there even though none have been found during almost 200 dives. A federal judge in Norfolk, Virginia, approved the expedition back in May, but the U.S. government filed a legal challenge in June, claiming the deep dive would violate federal law and a pact with Britain which recognizes the wreck as a memorial site. Now the case will go to the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond.
Look for ADELE to host next weekend's "Saturday Night Live" despite the fact that she's pretty much been out of the public eye for nearly three-and-a-half years. She'll be the host and H.E.R. will be making her "Saturday Night Live" debut as musical guest. FYI: Adele has sold more than 120 million records, won 15 Grammy Awards and has an Academy Award for Best Original Song for her James Bond theme, “Skyfall.”
Latest comic book movie: “Static Shock.” The comic book is about a teen character who can transform himself into a superhero with electromagnetic powers. Nobody has been picked to be the star, however, there was a animated series on the Kids' WB network back in the early 2000s and it was one of the few superhero series starring a Black character. MICHAEL B. JORDAN will be producing the film, and says he's “proud to be a part of building a new universe centered around Black superheroes; our community deserves that.” Who would you like to see as the star?
Fast food update: The Red Robin chain is bringing back their Gingerbread Milkshake for the 2020 holiday season. It's made of soft serve ice creak blended with milk, graham cracker crumbs and gingerbread flavor, then topped with whipped cream, graham cracker crumbs and a gingerbread cookie. Calorie estimate is 430 calories, and 21 grams of fat.
