Movie news: The "Downton Abbey 2" movie sequel will be out in theatres this Christmas. HUGH BONNEVILLE and ELIZABETH McGOVERN, who starred in the original series and first movie, are back, along with HUGH DANCY, LAURA HADDOCK, Dame MAGGIE SMITH, Dame PENELOPE WILTON, JIM CARTER and DOMINIC WEST. JULIAN FELLOWES, who created the series, will be writing the follow-up as well.
More movies: VIN DIESEL has been picked to star in a new movie about the "Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robot" Game. Mattel, which developed the kids' game, is behind the movie, along with Universal Pictures. And the word is that Mattel also has movie versions of “Wishbone,” about that Jack Russell terrier; “Barbie” starring MARGOT ROBBIE and one about the card game “Uno,” starring rapper LIL YACHTY.
Not gonna happen: Although PRINCE HARRY was expected to jet back to his pregnant wife, MEGHAN MARKLE, yesterday after attending his grandfather’s funeral in London, the London Sun says he may delay his return in order to attend QUEEN ELIZABETH II’s birthday. He's also said he would like to join PRINCE WILLIAM for the unveiling of PRINCESS DIANA’s memorial statue at Kensington Palace on July 1 --what would have been their mom’s 60th birthday.
Stalker alert: A 52-year-old guy has been arrested for allegedly stalking TAYLOR SWIFT. Cops arrested HANKS JOHNSON Saturday night after a 911 caller told police he was inside Taylor's Tribeca building without permission. He reportedly told the arresting cops that Taylor was communicating with him on social media.
Tube news: JANEANE GAROFALO has signed up to guest star in the seventh and final season of DARREN STAR’s hit comedy series, "Younger." The series premieres on Paramount+ April 15, but Garafalo doesn't appear until Episode 5, playing the Dean of The Arts College of New York.
Oscar update: As you know, the Academy Awards are coming up this Sunday night, and it will be a live ceremony. Yesterday, the Academy told stars and other Oscar attendees they would not have to wear face masks while they are on camera. But, when the cameras are not on them --for instance during commercial breaks-- they are being asked put their masks on. The Academy also said that the audience will be limited to 170 people, which will be rotated in and out of the ceremony.
Fast Food news: The folks at McDonald’s have put together a new, celebrity BTS meal which will be available starting May 26. It reportedly comes in a bag big enough to hold a ten-piece order of Chicken McNuggets, a medium Fries, a medium Coke, as well as Sweet Chili and Cajun dipping sauces, made from recipes used at McDonald’s South Korean restaurants.
