Preggo: actress JENNIFER LAWRENCE. People magazine reports she's expecting her first child with her husband, art gallery director COOKE MARONEY. They've been married since late 2019 in a big wedding attended by celebrities including ADELE, AMY SCHUMER, KRIS JENNER and EMMA STONE.
Good news for fans of "Wheel of Fortune" --PAT SAJAK and VANNA WHITE have both reportedly signed up for another three years on the show. Variety reports they'll remain with the show through the 2023-2024 season and Pat's daughter, MAGGIE, has picked up a job as the show's social correspondent. SHe'll reportedly be doing interviews and posting videos on the Wheel's social media platforms. As of 2023, Pat and Vanna will have been with the show for 40 years --since its debut in 1983.
Show biz, take two: JENNIFER LOPEZ and BEN AFFLECK arrived in Venice yesterday for today's world premiere of “The Last Duel.” The RIDLEY SCOTT movie stars Ben along with MATT DAMON, ADAM DRIVER and JODIE COMER. Of course, the rumor mill has been in overdrive about the pair, since they called off their wedding and split back in 2003. More recently, Jennifer was dating ALEX RODRIGUEZ until they split in April, and she's reunited with Ben since then. This will make their first major red carpet debut since reuniting.
More TV: Judge JUDY SHEINDLIN will be coming back to TV with new shows, although not on the station you've seen her on. Her new show, called “Judy Justice,” will be on weekdays on IMDb TV beginning November first. Judy's granddaughter, SARAH ROSE, will also be joining her, working as a law clerk and legal analyst for the show. CBS bought Judge Judy's old shows and will likely be syndicating them despite Judy's moving to another network.
Even more TV: HBO Max has reportedly picked up a second season of the show, "Gossip Girl." The show originally ran on The CW network from 2007-13, but the new reboot has all-new stars. The HBO Max show is half-way through its first season, with the second half (six shows) beginning in November.
And speaking of streaming, the Paramount+ network has picked up a third season of "Star Trek: Picard." As true "Star Trek" fans know, Picard is played by PATRICK STEWART and the news was announced yesterday during the live-streamed Star Trek Day celebration.
No matter how tragically people have died, there's always somebody that takes advantage of their passing. In Florida, the 12-story South Champlain Towers near Miami collapsed on June 24th, killing 98 people, and now police have arrested three people who they say stole the identities of some of the victims, getting credit cards in the victim's names and making purchases worth thousands of dollars.
New York authorities say there's one good thing about the floods from Tropical Storm Ida --they apparently flushed a huge amount of rats out of the city's sewer pipes and subway tunnels. Experts now believe that hundreds of thousands of rats may have either been crushed by the current or swept out into the rivers, thanks to a record-breaking 3.15 inches of rain in a single hour. Unfortunately for residents, however, city exterminators say the remaining members of the rat population may have taken refuge above ground temporarily because their homes were inundated with water.
