General Motors is no longer the top car seller in the US --for the first time in 90 years! GM was overtaken by Toyota, which was up 10-percent from last year, selling more than 2.3 million vehicles. No surprise that GM said it's drop in sales --around 13-percent-- were caused by the widespread shortage of semiconductor parts. Also, car sales have been depressed because of the pandemic as well as supply chain woes.
COVID, take one: "Late Night's" SETH MEYERS said yesterday he's tested positive for COVID, and was cancelling the rest of his shows this week. He's the second late-night host to get the disease --JIMMY FALLON said Monday although he'd been vaccinated and boosted, he was "lucky enough to only have mild symptoms."
CHER is now 75 and told People magazine this week that she won’t be showing off her gray hair any time soon. She said although she’s seen plenty of women embrace their natural gray hair, she won’t be one of them, saying "[Going gray] is fine for other girls," she explained. "I'm just not doing it!"
Obvious question for listeners: Why do you --or don't you show off your grey hair --and how difficult is it to keep up?
We mentioned "Jeopardy!" champion AMY SCHNEIDER yesterday --she's won over $800-thousand dollars on the show --the fourth-most total money and fourth-most consecutive games of any contestant in regular-season play. She was robbed Monday.
Amy, who lives in Oakland, California, tweeted "I got robbed yesterday, lost my ID, credit cards, and phone." But, she says she's doing "fine" And is trying to replace everything.
DAVID LEE ROTH has bagged his final Las Vegas shows before his retirement. The shows, which would be tonight through January 22, have been cancelled and David released this note through his manager: "Sometimes you win, Sometimes you lose, We got rained out... Covid cancelled. Future shows? When the benefit concerts for Colorado, Farm Aid, and hospital workers "everywhere" come up; Call me." David, who's now 67, obviously may still do some single big-name shows, but that's it.
More COVID: California prosecutor KELLY ERNBY, a deputy district attorney and right-wing activist from California who vehemently opposed vaccine mandates, has died after contracting COVID. She was 44 years old.
Warning --note content: It's retirement for former "90 Day Fiancé" star STEPHANIE MATTO. Stephanie, who's 31 years old and lives in Connecticut, started her own YouTube channel, wrote books and founded an X-rated subscription site called Unfiltrd after the TV show and started her own business --selling her farts. That seems a little strange, but the business took off and she was selling up to 50 jars’ worth of farts a week to keep up with demand --and made $200,000 in sales. But then her body had problems with the high demand, and she was rushed to the hospital with chest pains. Turns out it wasn't a heart attack, but a result of her steady diet of gas-inducing beans and eggs. “I thought I was having a stroke and that these were my final moments,” Matto said. “I was overdoing it.” Turns out her body was just rebelling against her diet. Her doctors advised that she needed to change her diet and to take a gas suppressant medication, which "effectively ended my business," she said. Now, she says she plans to donate a portion of her income to charity that supports gastric disorders.
