Yet still another artist has sold their catalog to a record company. This time it was BOB DYLAN who sold his music to Sony Music about seven months after he made another deal --with Sony’s rival, Universal Music-- for his songwriting copyrights.
According to Billboard, the rights to Dylan’s recordings may be worth about $200 million. When he sold his songwriting rights to Universal, that deal was estimated to be well over $300 million.
As you may remember, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN sold his music and songwriting catalogs to Sony for $550 million.
Add singer ERIC CLAPTON to the people who believe you don't need a Covid vaccination. In fact, the 76-year-old claims people who DO get vaccinated are under "hypnosis." Eric has said that he was duped into getting the shot by subliminal messaging in pharmaceutical advertising --and has urged others not to fall for it.
Meanwhile, Clapton has been known to throw his support behind other anti-vax activists, including donating more than $1,300 to a British rock group who were slapped with fines for breaching COVID-19 protocol during a show in 2021.
Going to donate blood this year? The folks at Krispy Kreme said Monday they'll give a dozen glazed doughnuts to people who donate blood or platelets now through January 31st. This will help the Red Cross, which has had a major drop in blood drives because of the COVID-19 pandemic and others cancelled because of winter storms.
If you've seen the headlines, you won't be surprised that there's been many more incidents of "air rage" aboard planes this past year --around 57-hundred compared to a typical year which can have 100 to 150 cases. Insiders say one of the problems is mask compliance, as well as some airlines suspending alcohol sales thanks to passengers assaulting flight attendants. In case you're taking a flight, the FAA has also launched a zero-tolerance policy to combat the wave of violent passenger incidents. Bottom line, that means you could receive a fine of up to $37-thousand dollars for engaging in "unruly behavior" aboard the plane.
BEACH BOYS singer BRIAN WILSON turns 80 this year and has a new film coming out. The documentary, called "Long Promised Road," will showcase his career and the Beach Boys' music, as well as including the hard times and his long struggle with serious mental health problems.
A new study from British scientists says that drinking red wine could reduce the risk of Covid infection. The study, published in Frontiers In Nutrition, says people who drink five or more glasses of red wine a week had a 17-percent lesser risk of catching the virus. Scientists believe that the reduced risk might be because of the drink’s high content of polyphenol, which is known to help with the flu and other respiratory conditions. Don't like red wine? No problem. The study also found that white wine and champagne also Covid. But... beer doesn't have the same effect. In fact, drinking any amount of beer and cider gave people a 28% higher risk of getting Covid, with anyone drinking five or more glasses of any alcoholic drink in a week also gave an increased risk of infection.
