See ya: As you've probably heard, CNN president Jeff Zucker has resigned from the network after failing to disclose a romantic relationship with Allison Gollust, the network's executive vice president and chief marketing officer. Of course, staff romances can happen anywhere... and every business is different with rules about reporting... or working with somebody you're involved with. There are stories galore from your audience about this sort of thing, but you'll probably want to keep real names out of it.
Yesterday was a big day for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, which announced 17 different groups and artists up for a possible induction this year. They are Rage Against the Machine, Pat Benatar, Dionne Warwick, Carly Simon, Judas Priest, Beck, Kate Bush, DEVO, Eurythmics, Fela Kuti, MC5, the New York Dolls, Eminem, Duran Duran, Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, and A Tribe Called Quest.
A very special Budweiser Super Bowl ad is scheduled for this year. “A Clydesdale’s Journey,” is about a wounded horse who falls into a barbed wire fence and is confined to its stable for the winter, recovers and finds the will to run again with a friend and speeds off to at full speed when it comes out in the spring.
In Florida, a man and his grandson were on a magnet fishing trip last month when they pulled in two sniper rifle receivers and bolts wrapped in shrink wrap. The grandfather was a retired infantry soldier and had been trained in deploying sniper weapons, so he immediately recognized the weapons.
Look for Chloë Grace Moretz and Joseph Gordon-Levitt in “White Night,” a new psychological thriller about the mass murder-suicide in the Jonestown cult in 1978. He'll play cult leader Jim Jones and she'll play Deborah Layton, a woman who rose through the ranks of the cult and tried to expose Jones before it was too late. As you may remember, some 900 people died in the mass-murder-suicide in November of that year.
