Weekend movies: Looks like Warner Brothers “The Batman” could rake in big bucks this weekend, with estimates as high as $115 million bucks. Interestingly, Variety reports tickets for the film will be slightly more expensive than for other movies at the same theatres. And according to Entertainment Weekly, AMC is charging an extra $1.50 on adult tickets for the film in Los Angeles. It's Robert Pattinson's debut as Batman.
Also opening this weekend: "A Day to Die." (After killing a drug syndicate member while protecting a parolee, Connor Connolly has one day to pay two million dollars in reparations he doesn't have.)
"Great Freedom," (In post-war Germany, liberation by the Allies does not mean freedom for everyone, especially Hans, who was found guilty of homosexuality.)
"Asking for It," (Vanessa Hudgens, Kiersey Clemons, and Alexandra Shipp lead a no-mercy all-female gang.)
Harvey Weinstein likes Milk Duds. As you know, Harvey's been behind bars, and was reportedly caught with the goodies during a search on November 10th after a meeting with one of his attorneys. The L.A. County jail guards confiscated the candy, telling him they would be searching his lawyer's possessions in the future when he visited.
Singer and actress Jennifer Hudson will be doing her own daytime talk show this fall, unsurprisingly called "The Jennifer Hudson Show." People magazine reports it'll be shown on Fox TV stations. Interestingly, Warner Brothers TV, which will be producing the show, also does "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," which is ending after 19 seasons.
The Weeknd has announced the US dates for his “After Hours Til Dawn” stadium tour, which begins in his hometown of Toronto on July 8th, then heads across North America before wrapping in Los Angeles on September 2nd and go overseas. Doja Cat will be opening. Interestingly, The Weeknd will be donating $1 from each ticket sold in North America portion of the tour to the United Nations World Food Program. Tickets go on sale next Thursday, March 10th.
“Lizzie McGuire” actress Hilary Duff says she's still looking to do an adult reboot of “Lizzie McGuire.” Hilary, who's now 34, says she shot two episodes which would begin the new sitcom, but Disney apparently told her they did not want to move the show to another network or give in to her request to do a more adult show which would not fit under a PG rating.
