Dep't of Homeland Insecurity:
Another potential embarrassment for the TSA.
This time a man with tuberculosis made it aboard a plane when he was supposed to be banned from flying.
It was a US Airways flight from Philadelphia to San Francisco. The CDC (Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta) placed a passenger on its "do not board" list because he was infected with highly contagious TB. The CDC says it gave that list to the TSA but the passenger boarded the flight anyway.
Officials are trying to figure out who dropped the ball on this one, the TSA or the airline. (Maiman)On, Off and way-off Broadway:
The "Spider-Man" musical, with tunes by BONO & THE EDGE of U2, is in a holding pattern. Playbill.com says the show's producers are offering refunds to anyone who bought tickets for performances that were supposed to begin on February 25th. The show will eventually go on, but exactly when is still hanging by a web. A new opening date at the Hilton Theater on Broadway will be announced soon. (Marino)
Fashion:
MEGAN FOX is showing off her goodies again. Emporio Armani just released pictures from their new underwear campaign and the sultry young star looks just as hot as their former cover girl, VICTORIA BECKHAM. Fans can look for billboards in New York, Tokyo and Milan and a rep for the brand tells People magazine that the "Transformers" bombshell is the "perfect choice" for their collection.
Editor's Note: Pictures? Of course we have pictures. Weirdo. (Lee)The Reel Deal:
Another day, another cruddy remake --this one goes to "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." ContactMusic.com reports the 80's cult classic is being given the once-over by movie execs that want to make it a little more modern, but don't look for MATTHEW BRODERICK to revive his breakout role. While he thinks a remake is fine, he'd rather leave the past in the past. (Lee)
Music:
JAY-Z and BEYONCE are Hollywood's top earning couple. Forbes' latest list pegs the newlyweds as making 122-million dollars between June of 2008 and June 2009. In this case, Beyonce earned more than her rapping hubby. She made 87-million, he took in 35-million. Here are the top 5 earning couples, according to Forbes.com:
5. DAVID & VICTORIA BECKHAM: 46-million dollars
4. WILL SMITH & JADA PINKETT SMITH: 48-million dollars
3. BRAD PITT & ANGELINA JOLIE: 55-million dollars
2. HARRISON FORD & CALISTA FLOCKHART: 69-million dollars
1. JAY-Z & BEYONCE: 122-million dollars (Marino)Lowering expectations:
A 78-year-old grandmother spent 14-days in jail back in November because police simply forgot they put her there.
The Miami Herald says police arrested SHAINK TRUDEAU on November 19th for driving on a suspended license. According to court records, Trudeau was "handcuffed like HOUDINI" and chains were wrapped around her waist like she was a violent criminal. To make matters worse, she wasn't even given a public defender. She then spent the next 2-weeks in jail --including Thanksgiving Day-- before a judge realized she was there.
Adding insult to injury: Her license had never been suspended, a fact pointed out at her arraignment on Dec 02 when a judge dropped the charge and apologized to Trudeau. Prosecutors are still arguing that it was indeed suspended --and still is.
Meanwhile, the public defender's office admits it screwed up and they've ordered retraining for several attorneys. (Still)
Editor's note: The good news: Even though cops forgot they granny her in jail, since she was 78, she forgot she was in jail, too. ("My, what an unusual hotel!")
--Was she at least in there long enough to get a "Born to Kill" jailhouse tattoo? (Maiman)
