Don't let the bedbugs bite:

The Big Apple is facing a major problem with bedbugs. A new poll says that one-in-ten New Yorkers has now battled bedbugs in their home --a rate twice as high as 2009.
   About 800-thousand New Yorkers now say they're dealing with the little blood suckers in their sheets. Bedbugs were alomost completely wiped out back in the 1940s by the insecticide DDT, but are now back and extra pesticide-resistant. (Pacelli)

Fast Food:

Recent research from The NPD Group finds that the food choices of twenty-somethings --also known as Millenials or Gen Y-- are overwhelmingly dictated by what researchers call the "three c's:" cravings, convenience and cost. Heeding cravings also means indulging with ease and speed.
   But --they are more likely than other age groups to use frozen entrées and other portable, quick-prep items, (ramen, anyone?) and this also translates to low consumption of leftovers.
   A typical Millennial consumes, on average, just 68 meals per year that contain leftover food, compared to 82 by adults in their 30's and 40's (Gen X), 79 by younger Boomers, 93 by older Boomers and 114 by seniors, according to National Eating Trends, NPD's ongoing tracking of consumer eating behaviors.
   Editor's note: On the other hand, this group is also the hardest hit by the recession, so maybe they can't afford anything else and it just boils down to getting something cheap to eat... making it less "three C's" and just one "C": cost. (Kaye)

As long as we're on the subject, the new Zagat Fast Food Survey is out after polling 65-hundred fast food fans. Winners below:
   --Best burger (Fast food): Five Guys
   --Best burger (Full Service): Red Robin
   --Best coffee (Fast food): Starbucks
   --Best coffee (Full Service): IHOP
   --Best salad (Fast food): Panera Bread
   --Best salad (Full Service): Cheesecake Factory
   --Best value (Fast food): McDonalds
   --Best value (Full Service): Olive Garden
   McDonald's, by the way, scored several titles, including Best French Fries (for the third straight survey), Best Drive-Thru, Best Value Menu and Best Breakfast Sandwiches. The 65-hundred people had a total of 837-thousand meals per year at fast-food and/ or full-service chains.

Sucking the life out of the wire services:

We don't know what happened to make MEL GIBSON crash his Maserati Sunday night, but he can't have been happy about it.
   The 2008 Maserati Quattroporte sedan goes for around $135-thousand, give or take, and it'll probably be take since Mel crashed it into a rock hillside off southbound Malibu Canyon Road.
   A California Highway Patrol report says Mel was alone at the time, and uninjured in the mishap.

MILEY CYRUS wants a bigger chest. According to Star magazine, the 17-year-old has her parents' permission to get D-cup implants and has already talked to a surgeon.

Stalking the catwalk:

Have you seen the commercial touting the new season of "America's Next Top Model?" Queen bee TYRA BANKS caught a peek and she's not a  happy woman! The supermodel-turned-mogul tells "Entertainment Tonight" that the latest trailer "misconstrued our overarching message" and regrets she didn't see the clip before it hit the airwaves. The controversial snippet features J. ALEXANDER clasping his hands around one of the girl and touching his fingers --not a good image for body-conscious young women. (Lee)
