Trash talk and satellite dish:
LINDA EVANGELISTA has dumped her latest billionaire. The NY Post's Page Six gossip column reports the supermodel broke up with Hard Rock founder PETER MORTON after a few disagreements. Word is she likes spending time in Canada and the Big Apple while Peter enjoys the sandy beaches of Malibu, California --not to mention the diva is still high-maintenance. (Lee)
KELLY OSBOURNE is in disbelief over her new body. The daughter of OZZY and SHARON told In Touch magazine that she just shot the cover of Shape magazine and when she saw the pictures she cried with joy: "I have never worn a bikini in my life. I never even thought of wearing one!" (Myers)
Taking things much too seriously:
In Seattle, a 19-year-old woman has been charged with second-degree assault after she allegedly stabbed a classmate during an anger-management class.
Police tell the Seattle Times that FARIBAH MARADIAGA "blew up out of control" and stabbed the classmate's arm and shoulder several times after the two women exchanged words.
Apparently, the incident stemmed from a video on anger management being shown. Maradiaga started bagging on it and when the victim said, "the video was good" and to "give it a chance," out came the slice-n-dice.
Maradiaga will stay in jail until a court date later this month.
Editor's note: This'll probably affect her grade.
--Sounds like a teachable moment to me!
--I'm thinkin' maybe that ain't such a good anger management class, huh?
--Probably coulda chosen a better video clip than the shower scene from "Psycho." (May we suggest next time, "Wuthering Heights"?)
--Well, look at it this way. If not for the class, it would've been a gun instead of a knife, so we're makin' progress! (I just love irony, don't you? --Maiman)Reality Round-Up:
Here's a big surprise (not!): in the wake of the Chilean mine rescue, Spike TV says they're going to do a reality show based in the mining industry and called "Coal." The show, which will be produced by the same guys who do "Deadliest Catch," will show everybody the day-to-day dangers and hard work of coal miners at the Cobalt Mine in Westchester, WV.
The Hollywood Reporter says execs claim they've had the project in the works for a year: "It didn't take a tragedy, and then a miracle, to get us excited about this," one claimed. Right. The Sequel Deal:
Another day, another sequel announced. This time it's a sequel to "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," and will tell the story of what happened to Butch after that big shootout at the end of the first film.
Deadline.com says in the sequel, Butch --played by SAM SHEPARD-- is alive and well in Bolivia and calling himself James Blackthorn. But getting older, he wants one last trip home... and heads back across Bolivia.A sequel for "Top Gun" is also in the works. Hollywood trades say Paramount Pictures has asked producer JERRY BRUCKHEIMER and director TONY SCOTT to do a sequel to the TOM CRUISE classic, with Tom himself making a cameo in the sequel as "Maverick," his character's call-sign in the original.
Grace notes:
"GENERAL" NORMAN JOHNSON, lead singer for the 70's soul group CHAIRMEN OF THE BOARD, is dead. Variety says he died Wednesday at age 67 but the cause of death has not been released. Norman's unique voice brought the Chairman Of The Board to Invictus Records, one of the labels formed by the ex-Motown songwriting and production team of HOLLAND-DOZIER-HOLLAND. The group's biggest hit was "Give Me Just A Little More Time," which peaked at number 3 in 1970. Norman also wrote songs for other artists including "Patches" by CLARENCE CARTER; the HONEY CONE's "Want Ads"; and FREDA PAYNE's "Bring The Boys Home." (Marino)
