Anniversaries:
With the Daytona 500 this weekend, a reminder that it was ten years ago today (2001) that NASCAR driver DALE EARNHART died of head injuries, after a crash on the final turn on the final lap at the Daytona 500. He was just 49, and the first driver ever to be killed at Daytona. He had to be cut out of his car after his crash, which appeared at first to be a minor fender-bender. Earnhart was a seven-time Winston Cup winner and won 76 races at Daytona over his 25-year-career, more than any other driver.
Shopping around:
It's not too soon to be thinking about Father's Day and we have the perfect gift: The Motor Sofa.
Suzuki is proudly showing off its road-ready sofa car at Chicago Auto Show. It has a one-cylinder gas-powered engine that gets about 40 miles to the gallon (though no word on its top speed). It's made from a recycled sofa that seats three and even comes with loose coins, cookie crumbs and pocket lint under the seat cushions.
Editor's note: Call me when they come up with a flying Lay-Z-Boy. (Maiman)Idle gossip & unconfirmed rumors:
