So, I'm still in Toronto, Canada for a conference, meaning many meals are eaten out. Ever notice how difficult it is to eat healthy when on the road? Restaurants mean well by offering supposed light fare in the forms of soups, sandwiches and salads, but unless you just want lettuce and a grilled piece of fish sans the butter it's really difficult. I attempted to eat clean and to eat less, ordering salads with grilled chicken, no dressing. I picked at my food enough to fill me up and pushed away the extra greens I chose not to eat. Three times I did this and every time, when the waitperson came to clear my plate they commented on what was left. "Are you just not hungry?", "Did you not like the salad?", "Did you want something else?" My mother never commented on my eating like this, and not a single wait person in the states ever commented on what I did or didn't eat either. In fact, it's been my experience that asking for a doggy bag was an imposition for most venues. Unless I was at a wedding, then they would gladly arrange my leftovers in foil and wrap it into the shape of a swan. I should have found out how the Canadians do a doggy bag, maybe the twist their foil into the shape of a moose.
