Around this time of year Mom's, teachers, after school aide's and babysitters alike are guiding little hands during ornament making processes. I made Shrinky Dink ornaments when I was young, clothes pin soldiers too. My mom still decorates her tree with them. My tree is covered with many memories as well, and gifts, including the famous "Pickle". If you don't know the legend and story behind the Pickle ornament ask your listeners; it has a German origin and is very popular.
Ornaments could make a great phone starter or listener treat. Ornaments are a very popular gift. Hallmark sells them year round. I love my light up Star Trek Ship. This year to commemorate my move south, my crafty sister made me a Box of Grits ornament. I also make sure to get an ornament from every place I travel; this year I'm adding ornaments from Disneyland, North Carolina, Nashville, Oregon, Calgary and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

People are doing all they can to save in this eco- nomic crisis, especially on groceries. Don't forget about food co-ops. They are busier than ever, with more people appreciating that a couple of hours work per week equals a reduction in their weekly food bill. They are owned and operated by their members, sell locally grown foods, and are environmentally conscious. The National Busi- ness Association reports more than 500 co-ops are staffed across the country, many just opening in the last few years.
