Accompanying a girlfriend to the Tattoo Parlor can be the epitome of female-bonding. Or at least a great memory. I went with my artist friend Kate; as she wanted to professes her love for her husband with a tattoo in the shape of a heart with their initials on it somewhere close to her bottom. I knew Kate would be picky with whoever handled the task and I was ready to enjoy the show. She and the tattoo artist who used to be a comic book illustrator got along famously and she picked a heart with red shading and we were off. The owner of this establishment; Joel, reminder me of Jerry Garcia and joined us in the room as the etching began. The topic turned to "first concerts". Joel's first concert was Woodstock! Jimmy Hendrix was the only act he remembers seeing. He followed that he experience seeing the Beatle's first concert at Shay Stadium. This guy was a trip and totally professional as this place was pristine, friendly and safe. Meanwhile Kate is laying on her stomach trying not to laugh while she is getting permanently inked. The pictures I took were not as good as the one Joel showed us from Woodstock (yes he managed to get on taken) but they are still priceless as was the whole experience.
