The karate moms are out of control today; the amount of correction they are giving their kids is minimal, to say the least. While I wait for my daughter, I'm observing my cast of characters. Due to a snow storm and small attendance, the karate waiting room is somewhat empty, except for seven adults and three kids under age four.
One dad has no desire to watch his two-year old. Another plays a GameBoy while his daughter runs- and I mean full on sprinting- around the room with the other toddlers screaming- more like screeching, and laughing (at least someone is having fun.) The mothers of the other two toddlers are engaged in a discussion about exercise, while the rest of us can't believe they are ignoring their kids. Did I mention they are screaming?
The dad sitting right next to me was staying pretty patient, until his coffee got knocked over by Carly, a sweet little blonde girl, who's mom simply said, "Carly, come here," after the spill. No apologies were made to the man, the mother went right back to her discussion, and Carly did not obey. My iPad and I tried to sit inconspicuously in the corner, except one little boy thought I'd make a good 'river and mountain.' He crawled under my chair, then over me. Meanwhile, dad was still fixated with his current hand-held device. Ya know, you really can only laugh about this, otherwise you'd scream- and trust me, theres enough of that happening.
