Our perspective on life has been challenged and changed with all the natural disasters that have tragically taken over our news feeds, our hearts and some our lives. My friend Bonnie made a major move from Staten Island, New York, to Naples, Florida. Her move played like a movie, her husband was a New York City Police Officer who was injured on the job. Being transferred to a desk job was not in his makeup, so they took the pension, loaded up the mini van with their extended Italian family, and moved to a beautiful beach-y place where they lived happily, and not just on Facebook. Hurricane Irma had their happiness flooded in a matter of minutes, and now this family is in someone else's house waiting to unfold a whole new way of life. We say, 'we could only imagine,' but those words are becoming reality to too many. I believe we are all six or less degrees of separation from someone either in Houston, Florida, or the islands that have been affected by these natural disasters. Sharing authentically, caring deeply, and helping consistently is needed. If you are a voice on the radio, you have a choice to be a voice of help, healing and encouragement no matter what format you are on. Or you can hit the post, take caller number 10, and post your food on Facebook. Neither is wrong, but if you just lost everything, or had a relative that lost it all, or know of a friend whose house is gone, or even just saw the pictures in the headlines- what would you rather hear on the air? Make that difference! #ItsHowYouMakeThemFeel
