As I pull out my grandmother's Christmas mementos, I wonder what she would think about all the online Christmas cards and shopping happening all around. My physical mailbox brings some photos of friends and their families, these are a welcome treat. But, honestly, I'll take whatever I can get in this day of busy. I am grateful to be able to stay connected at least in the form of a picture.
This Christmas season 'connection' can mean everything to anybody. Meeting the neighbor you've never met, healing a family relationship, interacting with a listener who needs to hear your story, or needs you to hear theirs. Our hearts are a little softer during this season, a little more open to goodness.
No matter what music format you operate, sweet moments are possible. Just on a fun little whim, we put a refrigerator inside the studio at my radio station, 104.7 the Fish Atlanta, and we've asked listeners to send us things that we could put on the refrigerator door. They mail in, they email or send a Facebook message. From all the options we've received wedding invitations, passing grade, baby announcements, pictures of pets. And now, we adorn the studio with pictures of our listeners and their Christmas cards. It's a good way to celebrate them. In fact I'd love to send you a card; tell me where you're at and it'll be on its way. I am @ Bethbacall
