Holiday jobs have consumed the content on my neighborhood Facebook page.
People are happy that there's work available for moms who need a reprieve from helping their kids through remote learning, and college students who are taking an unexpected year off. Amazon, UPS, Trader Joe's, and Target are now employing people from my block, and there are more jobs available.
Friends and family coupons are promised, and sign-up times to shop at Target are now a ‘thing.’ Some crafty folk are getting in on the Facebook crowd by selling holiday wares and sweets, wrapped, and available for hands-free delivery. One of my neighbors started a decorating service, which includes tree set-up, stocking hanging, light fixtures, and then a return after the New Year to clean up and pack away.
Optimism is in the air, for getting and giving. In an effort to add a charitable element, I created a neighborhood food collection for our local shelter. My block outdid itself, and filled two truckloads of food for others. The generosity was overwhelming and so encouraging.
It's good to be well-shopped and decorated. Add in the blessings, and that's the beauty of the season.
