Family vacations and summer camps are being booked now unless the dates and times were secured in January.
Covid has either stopped a person from ever wanting to travel again, or increased the appetite to explore. It’s the latter for me, but not for everyone in my family. It’s not my family in that happy Disney commercial, half of them might enjoy that, but dragging the other half through a crowded park does not make for a great vacation. We are a divided family when it comes to travel likes and dislikes. Camping looks fun, but the fun stopped after one trip with a known retailer went very wrong.
When my family was smaller, a decision on travel could be made for them, but now it’s a gift to travel with bigger kids with their own lives. I asked my family to dream, to really think about where they’d like to go instead of reacting to the commercialization of what looks like a great vacation. And to share specific needs.
One family member wants to see the Northern Lights, another the Blue Lagoon. Seeing a concert at Red Rocks is a big one for me. Everyone seeks space to do their own thing during this time away, and I totally get and respect that.
It can be a family trip, but this way, we divide well. Seek peace.
