Eavesdropping in a full waiting room can provide great content for any show. Eavesdropping in an elevator or in a room full of moms waiting for their kids at karate or dance class, priceless. As hard as it may be to add your two cents to the conversation, I urge you to save it for your show. Especially if you're a man, you'll get better prep if you just sit and listen. You may have to stifle a laugh here and there too, but trust me, the content will be rich, the characters intense and the topics will range from baby spit, to middle school hormones, treasured kitchen appliances, and personal issues with their significant other. Look around the room as you listen. You're not the only one ready with the eye roll. Some women have no tact when it comes to discussing personal problems; they may take the tone down a notch but you can still hear them list in detail everything about a certain someone they can't stand. I know what your thinking: "why don't I just record this?" Won't work. She'll catch you- and in some states, it's illegal. So the next time you have a chance to take a kid to a practice or class, do it, and sit real close to the ladies who have full cups of coffee.
