Toenail color can tell a lot about a woman. I see many feet at my kickboxing class, where we throw jabs and uppercuts barefooted. Some freshly pedicured toes stay in socks, but once the socks come off, the colors come out: blue, pink, dark and bright red, lavender-it's like a rainbow. The more refined kickers tend toward taupe tones, while younger feet sport brighter colors. Very dark tones-purples, browns, and black-are very popular. These are the colors I prefer: I use OPI's Midnight in Moscow, a cool black-brown shade.
Nail polish names are a whole other topic. Just log onto OPI.com and check out the funky names: I'm Not Really a Waitress, Honeymoon Sweet, and I Don't Do Dishes. At a recent class the need for pedicures really stood out, with more toes showing chipped polish instead of pretty painted designs. This is also a sign that flip-flop season has passed. When the toes stop showing through shoes, some women start to re-prioritize their beauty rituals. The option to save time or a little cash on a salon treatment is an understandable motive. And once the Uggs get pulled out from the back of the closet, there's also no telling when she'll care about her feet again, or shave her legs. Yes, she cuts a few corners here and there with that too. A relationship could also determine how much upkeep this gets as well, but then again, this topic is a whole other show.

She's in and out
Eating out is still out. Cooking in is in. Across the country, cooking classes and lessons are packed. Culinary schools report a large increase in attendance, including free classes at Williams- Sonoma. People still want to eat well regardless of the economy and they're learning to do for themselves what they used to pay a chef or restaurant to do. Approximately 2.9 million people watched this last season of Bravo's Top Chef. Most women have a favorite Food Network chef and food websites that offer thousands of recipes are also seeing an increase in traffic.
