While walking through a bountiful farmer's market in downtown Bend, Oregon, I noticed that many of the booths were selling goat related foods; goat ravoli, goat sausage, goat stew. I kept commenting to my Bend-ite girlfriend about this product and she barely acknowledged it. Finally I asked "what's with all the goat?" She replied, "We eat it all the time". Then she listed off all the wild animals she eats: elk, yak, buffalo. She had to be convinced on the yak, and commented that it was not her favorite. You see. all these meats are antibiotic and hormone free, hence the attraction and one of the reasons her daughter wants to own a goat farm. And I thought frozen yogurt was still the hot franchise.

She's safe
Massachusetts has passed a law requiring restaurants to educate their staff about food allergies in an effort to promote food-allergy awareness.
She Money
Money magazine reports that even more big chain stores may be closing, before they hold their liquidation sales, they increase their prices to the manufacturer's full retail price. Furniture deals can be found at small family-owned stores instead of stores like Pottery Barn. Also, travel deals are to be found on hotels rather than airfare.
She Recall
Fisher-Price has recalled about 24,000 3-in-1 high chairs sold at Target stores, due to a seat that can fall backwards while child is sitting in it. For more information, log on to www.cpsc.gov.

She Mystery
There is some mystery to being a mystery shopper. Can she really make money at this? Getting paid to shop and dine does sound too good to be true. But if she plays her cards right, she could make extra cash and have fun doing it. Here's advice from Nicole Weisberg, who writes the blog "Nicole's Nickels." Nicole makes about $300 a month for six hours as a mystery shopper. She suggests signing up with a company online but not anyone who wants a membership fee. Start with a small assignment and follow all directions carefully and thoroughly. Many jobs entail finding a specific brand, seeing if shelves are stocked properly, or if salespeople give and offer the correct information. The mystery shopper must compete detailed surveys, with receipts scanned and attached, then returned within a specific time range before reimbursement happens. Payment can take up to three months. Numerous types of venues need mystery shoppers: theme parks, restaurants, grocery stores, pet stores, or pretty much anywhere in a shopping mall. She can get more information and sign up to shop at the Mystery Shopping Providers Association of America at www.mysteryshop.org.
