Outdoor enthusiasts are taking full advantage of all the fall season has to offer. I was shopping at "Dick's Sporting Goods" and the place was packed on a Wednesday night. here's what I saw: three separate groups of mothers and sons sizing up soccer gear; four different middle-aged women browsing through work-out wear' a husband and wife eyeing some kayaks; one woman shopping for weights. I saw another buying inline skates and two more trying on hiking boots, among many other things. This was turning into a research project for me. This was an enormous store packed with every sporting good imaginable. 80% of the in-store customers were women; shopping for themselves of their kids. The men in the store were checking out team jerseys and fishing equipment. 100% of the employees were men all seeming less than enthusiastic about working. Geez, you'd think they'd be thrilled working in a store packed with sports stuff and women! Me, I was the gal waiting in line with two pair of kickboxing mitts and a two for one coupon how convenient Michael Jackson's "Bad" was playing overhead.

She Fashion:
Women's Wear Daily polled designers and buyers on their idea of a bargain. Here are some of the comments:
"Anything my husband won't yell at me for." - Rachel Zoe, celeb stylist and reality star who has a serious penchant for Chanel.
"Cheap for me is that great feeling when you look at something, expect it to be four times the price, then look at the price tag and find it's a third of what you were expecting. That's the definition of value to me." - Patrick Robinson, executive vice president of global design for the Gap
Linda Fargo of Bergdorf Goodman counts Havaianas $18 plastic flip flops as a "cheap thrill."
Designer Lyn Devon says she buys Michael Stars $34 (is this price correct?) black tank tops in bulk.
"Whether it's cashmere socks or buying a Porsche on sale, my mantra is luxury at an affordable price." - Simon Kneen, Banana Republic executive vice president design and creative director.
Ken Downing of Neiman Marcus considers a $990 Lanvin leopard jersey dress, and $850 Narciso Rodriguez silk and Lycra dress to be "great deals."
What's her idea of a bargain? (For the record I think Old Navy $3 Flip flops are pretty sweet)
She's a Home Owner:
Owning a home comes with many challenges. Here are a few hidden threats that can really sway her day:
- Clogged dryer exhaust ducts. Dryer lint will catch fire very easily.
- Dirty chimneys. They need to be cleaned out once a year.
- Mice droppings.
- Water Heaters: beware of burns
- Lead paint.
- Radon gas. One out of 15 homes in the United States has high levels of cancer causing radioactive Radon gas which originates from the uranium found naturally in the soil. Testing for Radon is something you can do with a DIY testing kit.
- Bad DIY wiring.
- Carbon monoxide poisoning. Carbon monoxide is an odorless, colorless and flammable gas that is poisonous to humans and their pets.
- Icicle buildup on the eaves.. To avoid injury from dropping icicles, it's best to knock these things off with a shovel first even though they look pretty cool.
- Squirrels. Attic dwelling squirrels love to nibble away at all that yummy electrical insulation which increases the risk of home fires.
