Dishes in the sink

There are many typical "nags" a mom would like never to repeat. For me it's, "please put your dishes into the dishwasher." It takes a few seconds more to put a dirty dish into the dishwasher and saves mom a lot of time. My kids have a habit of allowing dirty cups and plates to pile up in the sink. I think they fear finding clean dishes in the dishwasher which would mean they would have to put these dishes away, as one of our house rules is "if you see something that needs to be done, do it." I have taken every measure possible to get them in this habit and it truly takes a large amount of control to come home from work to a sink full of dirty stuff and a couple of kids playing on the Wii. Of course they'll do it when I ask, or after I clear my throat and call them loudly by their given name, but I shouldn't have to remind them of this house duty. They'll also retrieve all the dirty dishes from their bedrooms, which also seems to accumulate clutter in the blink of an eye. You see when I do 'remind them", I'm "nagging." It' not a winning situation, yet one I struggle with routinely. This week I'm going to try a different tactic. I'm going to text them their chores for that day and a pleasant reminder of my estimated time of arrival home from work, the time all chores need to be done by. Maybe if I meet them on their own playground they'll hear me better, if not there's always Facebook.

Neti Pot: a small pot-like object (looks like Aladdin's lamp) that is used for at-home nasal irrigation. It flushes out the nasal cavity in the form of a rinse or a snort. It's been practiced as a yoga principle and it's on the shelves of her drug store and natural foods stores.

Perfume that you can see? Wode, a fragrance made by British design label Boudicca, is a sharp cobalt blue color and stays blue on the skin and clothes for a few minutes before it magically fades to clear. This fragrance is a mix- ture of herbs, spices, juniper berries, and cardamom. The more you spray, the deeper the blue mist and the longer it takes to disappear. Not sure how fast it will vanish off the shelves, costing $130.

Red meat is not winning any awards in the health industries. Now researchers are saying that people who eat large amounts of red meat might be at a greater risk for intestinal bugs. They say red meat naturally contains sugar molecules that adhere to the intestinal lining and blood cells, and pulls toxins to it. This molecule does not exist in fish, poultry, fruits, and vegetables. (Source: www.Yahoonews.com)
