Every year millions of people search the Internet for inspirational quotes. Just search for "inspiration," "motivation" or simply "quotes," and you'll discover tons of pages dedicated to sharing words, phrases and moments with an intention to lift your spirits and motivate you.
You also see quotes featured daily on social pages, in tweets and so on. It's some of the most shared content because of the power of these quick thoughts to help us feel good again.
My friends on Facebook, Twitter and other social pages are familiar with a feature I post each day, called "Status Boost." It's simply a motivational quote that I share or write each morning based on my mood, what's happening in the world, major events and so on. I have posted a new quote just about every day for the past four to five years, so I guess it's officially become a benchmark.
It's really amazing that out of all the things I do in my life that the "Status Boost" is the one thing most people mention when I see them. I really appreciate that, and feel good in knowing I may have contributed to making a difference in someone's day.
So in that same spirit, I am going to offer a few quotes with the intention of motivating you now. These are not your typical inspirational quotes, but stick with me and you'll discover the twist could produce a Status Boost for you.
Social Impact quotes to remember.
"Stimulate and entertain."
"Without departing from your basic ideas, you have to constantly evolve and add new ideas within the original concept of what people want and expect from you."
"Avoid imitating others and program so others cannot easily imitate."
"Establishing a unique personality requires the ability to spontaneously create something."
"Have an identity in the community; let the audience know that you know what's going on and that you've been there."
"Stay true to your own style."
"Community involvement also means opening your door to the public."
"No glossing over the surface and giving something lip service without really being involved."
"Listen, pioneer good content, program for the people, be aware of audience response."
You may be asking, "What is so inspirational about these phrases?" They could fill the headlines and/or be included in blogs or articles about good ideas for social media, but as a quote to feel good...?
It seems just about every article, and expert, continues to tell you that everything has to change in order to be social and successful in this new world.
Well, the motivational part is knowing that every single quote is not copied from articles from opinion leaders about social media.
All of them are quotes taken from Billboard Magazine articles that were first shared in the 1950s by program directors, offering insights and advice about building great radio stations.
My point in posting it this way is to help you feel inspired by discovering again that programming great content, making a difference in a community, and using personality to connect people is something you have always known. Instead of thinking that everything needs to change, don't be afraid to go with what you know.
As Albert Szent-Gyorgyi said, "Discovery consists of looking at the same thing as everyone else and thinking something different."
In this case, the boost is knowing that something different is the status you've held all along.
