A Kevin James-Vince Vaughn Movie's Coming Out. That's Plenty Offensive Enough
-
A trailer for the new Kevin James-Vince Vaughn movie had Vaughn's character calling an electric car "gay." This drew angry complaints from Anderson Cooper, among others. The argument is that in light of all the bullying stories against gays, a movie shouldn't add to the problem. Okay, you can start debating now. Would it make a difference if you add the next line from the movie, "not homosexual gay, but your-parents-are-chaperoning-the-dance gay"? And does it matter if Vaughn's character is SUPPOSED to be a d-bag (sort of the only character he ever plays anymore)? Or is there no context where using a term like that in a denigrating manner is acceptable? (Los Angeles Times)
