I'm not sure how I feel about how fans can now go to Air Canada Centre, home of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Raptors, and sit outside the arena and watch the action on a huge HDTV screen. On one hand, I've enjoyed watching a Phillies game on a big screen outside at the Piazza at Schmidt's, the hipster housing and restaurant complex in Philadelphia; the atmosphere was really fun and casual, and sitting around with a burger and beer while the game was projected on the brewery wall was a terrific experience. On the other hand, that's several miles from the ballpark, and if it's actually at the ballpark or arena, it's sort of a class distinction, with the "haves" inside and the poor unwashed rest of us outside watching on a TV and wishing we were inside.
