Most Smart Parents Got Their Kids Out Of There Years Ago
-
A decade ago, the NAACP sued Minnesota over the conditions at Minneapolis public schools, arguing that the state had deliberately concentrated poverty in the city and made it impossible for kids in poor neighborhoods to get an adequate education. The settlement of that suit allowed those kids to go to suburban schools and magnet schools. The result of THAT was that the only kids left over in the old schools were the lowest achievers. And now, the NAACP is back complaining about the superintendent's plan to close a high school where the grades and achievement are critically low. The NAACP is going so far as to tell parents there to pull their kids out of school to protest. But it was their own lawsuit and settlement that caused the brain drain in the first place.
